James Carlos Hartley (Jim) passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017.

He was born on Saturday, January 7, 1939, in Waco, Texas to James Carlos Hartley Sr. and Velda Bennett Hartley. He was the second oldest of four children.

Jim grew up in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas in 1956. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1960, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets.
Jim married Mary Burke, sharing 52 loving years of marriage.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters: Mary Elizabeth Hartley Bacon, and Julia Ann Dunn.

Jim is survived by his wife: Mary Burke Hartley, sons: Jamie and John Hartley (Cindy), daughter: Susan Hartley Wright (John), grandchildren: Nicholas, Avery, Miles, and Maia Hartley; Luke, Brian, Sarah, and Grace Wright, and brother: John Michael Hartley (Connie).

There will be a viewing and reception on Friday December 22, 2017 from 4 - 8PM (Rosary at 7PM) at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas, Texas 75252.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday December 23, 2017 at 11:30AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 2700 West Spring Creek Parkway Plano, Texas 75023.

In lieu of flowers, consider contributing to the Jim Hartley endowment fund to support education at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.
