Mr. Lennis Doyle, age 88, of Plano, TX was born July 24, 1929 in Haskell, TX. He passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas Hospital.

Mr. Hilliard grew up in Haskell on his family's farm along with his parents Horace Bell and Villa (Nash) Hilliard, his two brothers Elmer and Jesse and his four sisters Mrs. John Sheets (Virgie), Mrs. Robert Cusick (Vida / Sis), Ms. Dusty Hilliard and Ms. Ellen Hilliard. All are deceased.

Upon graduation from Paint Creek High School in Haskell, Mr. Hilliard joined the U.S. Navy and served from September 3, 1947 - August 29, 1951 as Radioman / Morse Code Operator on the USS Boxer. He was a veteran of the Korean War and World War II.

Mr. Hilliard married his beautiful bride, the love of his life on January 6, 1951 and they renewed their wedding vows on December 1, 1965. Florence Marie Hilliard (Dabrowski) passed away on November 13, 2010. Everyone who knew them will tell you they loved each other so very much and loved their life together.always knowing how to have fun together but more than that they loved serving others.

Mr. Hilliard is survived by their three children, Ms. Cheryl Murray (Dallas), Mr. Joseph Hilliard and wife Bobette (Royce City) and Mrs. Kelly Hilliard Lindstrom and husband Doug (Little Elm). His son, Mr. David Hilliard passed away on August 9, 1997. He is also survived by their grandchildren Luke Murray and wife Chrissy, Courtney Murray (Fiancé Jeff Johnson), Robert Hilliard (Fiancé Heather Borg), Tahnie (Hilliard) Holliday and husband Mason, Clint Bennett and wife Emily, Dillon Lindstrom, Sarah (Lindstrom) Barnes (Fiancé Joshua Kennedy), and twins Braedon and Brodie Lindstrom. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Summer and Samantha Monchamp, Lance and Lauryn Murray, Madison Barnes and Morgan Kennedy, and Kaylee Bennett. His great-grandchild, Sydney, born July 17, 2007 left us far too soon on July 22, 2008.

Mr. Hilliard was an active member at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Plano, TX where he and Marie resided for over 40 years. And it was here that he achieved the honor of 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. There were numerous additional volunteer organizations he served in to help others and communities during his lifetime because it was the "right thing to do".

His life's work as an Electrical Engineer provided him great opportunities involving advancing the state of modern technology as we know it today. His true passion was music especially playing the guitar whether he was performing at family gatherings or in bands alongside some great names over the years. He was an International Square Dance Caller and never missed an opportunity to teach newcomers. He truly loved to dance with his wife Marie and had the honor of doing so on a float in the Cotton Bowl Parade.

Although there is sorrow at the loss of our Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, we believe God has restored both Len and Marie to good health. They are enjoying their love of music and square dancing all the while smiling because the world now belongs to them; together again.

A catered visitation reception will be held on Thursday August 17, 2017 from 5pm to 8pm at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home in Dallas.
